Low Maintenance – Artificial Turf Project
The clients weren’t keen gardeners and wanted a simple low maintenance garden- child and animal friendly. We looked at several artificial grass options and settled on a short pile turf suitable for the situation. The area was raised and drainage incorporated into the project because of water logging issues.
The artificial turf was laid in 4 metres wide sections over a compacted base of crushed recycled concrete, washed sand and landscape fabric underlay. Sections were jointed together using a jointing strip and suitable glue- the edges trimmed and glued onto a concrete strip surround. The grass was allowed to settle to remove the slight rippling effect and stretched before fixing completely. Raised beds using treated timber sections provided small, protected planting areas, mulched with Pine bark.
