Loughborough – Residential Garden Design

Remodelling Established Garden Space

This established garden space contained some interesting plants and features, which we wanted to retain. Unfortunately, the garden, as a whole, no longer met the clients’ needs.

New sitting areas were created at the bottom of the garden and adjacent to the house, where a pond and surrounding decked area were formerly located. Natural stone random paving was used to match existing surfacing around the house. A low maintenance gravelled area was created near the house, incorporating a sweeping resin bound path, with evergreen plants throughout.

An existing statue on a plinth created a striking focal point for the upper garden area and an old curved back garden seat, located next to the statue provided an inviting place to sit. These were linked, both practically and visually, with stepping stones through the loose gravel. Other features included a simple Pergola over the path and a more elaborate structure over the area at the bottom of the garden complete with beautifully scented climbers.

Finally the old paving was jet washed and re-grouted using resin pointing material to match the new surfacing. On completion, the desired effect was realised, blending the old with the new and breathing fresh life into a tired space.
